{"id":1362,"date":"2013-03-28T01:40:29","date_gmt":"2013-03-28T06:40:29","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/dwaynephillips.net\/workingup\/?p=1362"},"modified":"2013-03-12T07:48:28","modified_gmt":"2013-03-12T12:48:28","slug":"a-day-at-a-co-working-place","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/dwaynephillips.net\/workingup\/2013\/03\/a-day-at-a-co-working-place\/","title":{"rendered":"A Day at a Co-Working Place"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>by Dwayne Phillips<\/p>\n<p><strong>I spend a productive day at a co-work location.<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>A few weeks ago I spent a day at a c0-work location &#8211; <a href=\"http:\/\/wespace.biz\/\">WeSpace<\/a> in Reston, Virginia.<\/p>\n<p>I had read about co-work locations for a few years and knew that one existed in my town.\u00a0 Since I am currently unemployed, why not try one? For $30 I had access to a chair and table in WeSpace as well as their WiFi Internet access and their water fountain.<\/p>\n<p>Two notes:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>I enjoyed the day<\/li>\n<li>I accomplished a lot<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>I wrote a couple thousand words on a new series of short stories as well as edited half a dozen job descriptions for a local community group. That was a lot for one day.<\/p>\n<p>What I did there that was better than being at home:<\/p>\n<blockquote><p>I didn&#8217;t goof off as much.<\/p><\/blockquote>\n<p>There was no couch for a nap, so I didn&#8217;t take a nap in the afternoon.<\/p>\n<p>Was it worth the $30? Yes, the education value alone was worth the cost. I learned how much I could accomplish in a day if I didn&#8217;t take a nap or scroll through the cable TV channels to see what was coming on that night.<\/p>\n<blockquote><p>Will I do it again? Probably.<\/p><\/blockquote>\n<p>One more thing, the people at WeSpace were polite and welcoming. Far more polite than any people in any &#8220;regular&#8221; office I have ever worked. What&#8217;s the deal with that?
