{"id":1865,"date":"2015-02-09T01:58:04","date_gmt":"2015-02-09T06:58:04","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/dwaynephillips.net\/workingup\/?p=1865"},"modified":"2015-01-19T09:03:00","modified_gmt":"2015-01-19T14:03:00","slug":"too-many-words","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/dwaynephillips.net\/workingup\/2015\/02\/too-many-words\/","title":{"rendered":"Too Many Words"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>by Dwayne Phillips<\/p>\n<p><strong>Yet another reason for brevity: the more the words, the more the mistakes.<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>There must be some statistic somewhere that shows the number of mistakes per 1,000 words that writers make (is it a mistake to end a sentence with the word &#8220;make?&#8221; Did I put my punctuation marks in the right place there?).<\/p>\n<blockquote><p>Given x mistakes\/1,000 words, it seems obvious that to reduce the number of mistakes, all writers and speakers will reduce the number of words we spout.<\/p><\/blockquote>\n<p>Somehow, for some reason, few of us heed that advice. We run on and on with page after page and minute after minute of explanation and wordy words.<\/p>\n<p>And so I will end this blog post here.
