Nevertheless, can persons in the workplace show some respect to one another?<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>As I write this, I remain unemployed. There is always hope for a 50-something with a few job skills (advanced degrees, certifications, books published, etc.), but it is tough.<\/p>\n<p>One request for those interviewing the unemployed:<\/p>\n<p>Show some respect.<\/p>\n<p>For example,<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>arrive on time<\/li>\n<li>offer a cup of coffee or other beverage<\/li>\n<li>comb your hair<\/li>\n<li>shave<\/li>\n<li>straighten your shirt<\/li>\n<li>pull up your pants above your knees<\/li>\n<li>act like a professional (you do have a paying job)<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>&#8220;Come on old man, this is the 21st century. These are the fashions&#8230;&#8221;<\/p>\n<p>Don\u2019t give me that excuse. Go out of your way and do more than you \u201chave to&#8221; that shows some respect.<\/p>\n<p>Now to the &#8220;do not&#8217;s:&#8221;<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>usher people into phone booths called interview rooms<\/li>\n<li>read from a script<\/li>\n<li>ask meaningless questions<\/li>\n<li>talk in circles<\/li>\n<li>promise things you won&#8217;t do<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>And so on, but please, just show some respect.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>by Dwayne Phillips Okay, I&#8217;m an old man.
