Dwayne Phillips ' Day Book
Items
I happen to view each day. Science, Techonology, Management, Culture,
and of course Writing
This is my day book for this week. I have modeled this after science
fiction and computer writer Jerry Pournelle's view, or as he calls it,
his Day Book.
I encourage you to see Jerry
Pournelle's site
and subscribe
to his services.

Intel expands its line of Next Unit of Computing NUC. The boxes are growing larger.
The coming changes to Apple retail stores to accomodate they buyers of the $10,000 Watch.
I am confused by this post. (1) what
is a citizen scientist? All scientists in the US are citizens. (2) Why
are people donating to a government agency? That is actually a Federal
offense.
What could threaten the FCC's rule over Broadband? All three branches of the government.
Much is being made today about Tim Cook's editorial in the Washington Post.
The editorial doesn't address the actual laws being passed, not does it
address the abuses to individual rights conducted by Apple itself and
by Apple's subcontractors.
Some Internet safety rules from a Google security expert.
Amazon takes drone testing to Canada. Thank our FAA for lost jobs.
Fascinating article on salaries for H-1B visa holders; get to the bottom to learn that they have low salaries. Yes, it is a way to bring in high skills at low pay.

The UN buys 10,000 of Ikea's flat-pack housing units. I hope this all works and doesn't become yet another government fiasco.
Jon Stewart's replacement is Trevor Noah—a comedian with a history of questionable tweets. He may never make it to the show.
It appears that the government of China is attacking GitHub.
Apple leaked photo rumors: the new giant iPad may have a USB-C port. Is this a less expensive iPhone 6C?
Microsoft releases another Windows 10 build; this one comes with previews of the new browswer.
People are hacking irs.gov and creating false accounts in our names.
oooops, personal info on G-20 leaders was leaked on the Internet.
Parents are opting out of Common Core test. New York leads the way on this; that bastian of conservatives. (not)
IBM takes The Weather Channel away from Amazon Web Services.
Facebook is the first tech giant in the valley to move into its new headquarters. Apple and Google trail.
We've yet to see a Steve Jobs biography that delves into the illegal activities that Jobs led.

Our President has a new plan to punish foreign hackers. The plan doesn't stop any hacking, but makes us feel better because we are doing something.
AirBnb is now in Cuba, so go couch surfing there with the Communist government.
The European Union prepares its $6billion case against Google.
Google makes a big push for the Chrome OS. Asus announces Chromebit plugin. It turns a TV into a Chrome browsing computer.
Google Drive for Work and Google Education up the amount of encryption and security for our data they store.
I was driving all day yesterday, so I missed all the April Fool's pranks on the Internet.
A look inside Google R&D work. Lots of funding, but time limits on projects as well.
